Are you enthusiastic about ensuring strategic and effective procurement? Are you eager to become responsible for developing a great procurement function contributing to create both awareness and transparency in procurement processes? Are you in possession of great collaboration skills and do you establish genuine stakeholder relationships? Then you might be our new Head of Procurement.

Join a dynamic and diverse organisation
We offer professional exposure towards the global maritime industry, as you will be setting the professional standards and strategic direction for our procurement function and support the team in achieving NORDEN’s overall strategy. The Head of Procurement oversees a team of sourcing and category managers with varying seniorities and experience in a highly specialised and diverse working environment.

Thus, this is an opportunity to become part of a listed shipping company characterised by a dedicated performance culture, in which your knowledge will be applied against a progressive and commercially focused environment.

Make a commercial impact
As Head of Procurement, you will report to our CFO and become the manager of four full-time employees and one student assistant. It will be your responsibility to supervise and develop our team of highly skilled specialists. You will ensure that the team is constantly cooperating, coordinating across areas of expertise and make sure that we meet the needs and expectations of internal stakeholders. It is of utmost importance that you know how to strike the balance between being an inspiring and present leader while leaving your team members with the autonomy to service their internal stakeholders best possible. Furthermore, you will cooperate closely with other support functions as well as business units.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Stewardship of procurement strategy in NORDEN through clear processes, clarity of ownership, and developing the team to support the following procurement activities: category management strategy, sourcing strategy, negotiation skills, contract lifecycle management, supplier relationship management and sustainable supplier initiatives amongst others.
  • Ensure internal stakeholder satisfaction with the performance of the procurement team, securing alignment with business needs, creating consistent, cascading metrics and tracking of financial KPI’s, challenging assumptions and ensuring that optimal solutions are found for NORDEN.
  • Ensure continuous solid supplier development including collaboration across geographies and handle relations with major suppliers.
  • Ensure information flow between the global offices and category managers with good stakeholder management and procurement branding through communication, to continue to support the business in their needs, but also encourage timely involvement of procurement in the relevant sourcing activities.

Your competences and core qualifications
This role requires an analytical and innovative individual with a solution-oriented mindset. You are in possession of master’s degree within business administration, economics, supply chain management or something similar.

We expect you to have more than five years of senior procurement experience from a similar position or as a Senior Category Manager wanting to step into a leadership role – preferably within shipping or transport. This is an ideal starting point for understanding NORDEN’s business model.

It is important that you possess experience within category procurement, strategic sourcing, vendor management and hold a clear understanding of purchasing workflows, category spend analysis and process improvement initiatives. Furthermore, you must have solid experience from leading teams of highly skilled specialists, preferably in an international setting.

Your current colleagues or employees would describe you as a good communicator and listener with a pragmatic approach.

The above listed competences should be combined with a people oriented and convincing personality with a deep understanding of developing positive relationships to stakeholders. As you will be building long-lasting stakeholder relationships, we expect that service excellence is your trademark.
