Skilled and engaged colleagues

Name:

Kasper Raunskov Rasmussen

Education:

Dual Maritime Officer, Master Mariner

Position at NORDEN:

Vetting Manager & DPA (Designated Person Ashore)

How long have you been with NORDEN?
I joined in April 2019 as Vetting Manager and have been DPA since October 2019.

Can you name a fun fact about yourself?
I was selected employee of the year during my employment with McDonald’s when I was young, and I participated in the very first OCR (Obstacle Course Racing) World Championship held in Ohio in 2015.

What is your background?
After some years with manager roles (McDonald’s and within terminal logistics) and the mandatory completion of military service as a firefighter, I began my maritime career in 2008 at SIMAC in Svendborg. After graduating, I sailed on chemical tankers for 2 years with both Maersk and M.H. Simonsen. In 2015, I joined the Danish Maritime Authority, advancing to the position of Senior Ship Surveyor being involved in all aspects of the maritime segment, its laws and regulations, their development and use and also within survey of all types of vessels, including newbuildingings.

What does your typical workday look like?
Even if all expected tasks have been planned and prioritised in advance, a typical day often resembles a thrilling ride down a black off-piste slope in overcast weather. Which is a good thing.

What is the best part of your job?
The close cooperation with skilled and engaged colleagues in professional discussions on matters making a difference for NORDEN, our tradability, the crew on our managed vessels and our customers.

Why did you choose NORDEN?
It is a well-known and strong brand with the possibility for future opportunities across departments and borders if deemed the right path in my career. I was also very positive about the employee care and attention given.
