Your responsibilities as a Chartering Manager will include a vital contribution to advancing commercial initiatives—from arranging cargo and overseeing COAs to enhancing opportunities in current and prospective markets. This position offers the opportunity to make meaningful contributions across commercial and strategic areas while developing strong partnerships within the industry.

The tasks that await you

As the Chartering Manager, you will:

  • Establish and maintain external as well as internal relationships.
  • Maximise earnings on own tonnage.
  • Create direct value by doing short-term contracts, tonnage and cargoes.
  • Obtain and share market information.
  • Analyse market research, formulate and share market view.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations on ongoing voyages to optimise results and ensure high-level service to the client.
  • Coordinate and position our fleet in close cooperation with the team.

As connecting with stakeholders is fundamental, business travels are expected.

Your core qualifications

We are looking for a future Chartering Manager who holds:

  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience within Dry Cargo Chartering, to be within the Supramax segment – South African market exposure preferred but not essential. Senior candidates can be considered.
  • Relevant experience in the areas outlined below:
    • Indian Ocean.
    • Trading and optimising earnings on tonnage and cargoes.
    • Key customer relationships.
    • Basic understanding of hedging and FFA.

Moreover, we are looking for you who have an approachable nature and problem-solving skills are significant, as you will need to interact with a broad array of stakeholders.

You are a skilled charterer who is adept at making decisions and handling daily operations while prioritising the needs of the team before your own agenda.
