Regitze Cederfeld de Simonsen
BSc in International Shipping and Trade, Copenhagen Business School (CBS)
Position at NORDEN:
Assistant Operations Manager, Panamax, Dry Operator
How long have you been with NORDEN?
Since 2019, partly as student assistant/intern and as full-time employee.
I love spending time in the nature, skiing and is a huge fan of the Netflix show “Black Mirror”.
What is your background?
I grew up on Funen in a relatively small town named Aarup. For high school, I went to boarding school at Sorø Akademi, and after I graduated, I moved to Copenhagen to study at CBS.
What does your typical workday look like?
It is difficult to describe a typical workday in dry bulk operation as every day differs from each other with new challenges appearing constantly. However, I typically start my day by checking up on the vessels I am operating. This includes being in dialog with the master onboard the vessel together with port agents and the brokers representing head owners and the cargo counterpart. Simultaneously, I am often in touch with colleagues from other departments such as Control, Bunkers, Chartering and Legal. When Chartering has fixed a vessel for a specific voyage, it is the operator's job to ensure that the voyage is performed, and ensuring that the vessel’s itinerary, bunkers, port schedule, P&L etc. are correct in our systems.
What is the best part of your job?
The fact that I meet new challenges almost every day, and the global perspective. In one day, I am often in contact with people from several different nationalities and who are located all over the world. Moreover, I enjoy the relaxed, however, still performance-based atmosphere in shipping – and my colleagues.
Why did you choose NORDEN?
I visited NORDEN for the first time while on a company visit with CBS, and from the first visit, NORDEN appealed to me by the professional appearance and great experience in both tank and dry bulk shipping. Moreover, NORDEN has the most beautiful office in Copenhagen in the old Tuborg Brewhouse.
