Procurement is looking for a Sourcing Manager for Chemical Procurement who has a two-fold role. There is the daily task of handling requisitions and purchase orders from our global team and coordinating with our suppliers. There is also the strategic task of developing the category with framework agreements, optimising our inventory & lifting patterns, carrying out tenders and sharing market trends with our stakeholders.
Based out of Copenhagen, the Procurement department has existed for almost two years and consists of highly motivated individuals managing spend for the NORDEN. We are looking for a person with a passion for procurement and experience in purchasing, an interest in impacting Norden’s Procurement maturity journey, in leveraging scale and creating value. The right person should love working with people, comfortable in having daily tasks and enjoy bringing new ideas to the table.
You will be responsible for the purchase of cleaning chemicals and equipment on the behalf of NORDEN which entails processing orders from around the globe. There is also the possibility to purchase other direct materials. Your primary stakeholders will be chartering and operators who manage the vessels and it is important that you are available to help them with their requests for purchase of chemicals. Over time, you will gain an overview of the stock onboard & ports, our suppliers and the marketplace and the challenges it represents. You will be covering the globe and working in multiple systems to ensure data flow and invoice management. This position will be placed in Copenhagen, Denmark.
What will you do in this role:
Manage the procure-to-pay process for daily orders for chemicals and equipment – from receiving the requisition to ensuring that the invoice is registered and paid.
Negotiate contracts and global framework agreements with suppliers focusing on delivering on different strategic initiatives to drive optimization and savings for the business. Ensure that we maintain strong relationships with our strategic partners. Understand the marketplace and ensure that stocks items are available in critical ports
Be on top of regulations in the chemicals area, work with Port Captains and the business to set up guidelines and procedures for use onboard vessels.
Be a sparring partner for the business by helping them leverage scale, assist on commercial aspects of sourcing, and challenge them on specifications & needs.
Collaborate closely with key stakeholders to ensure early involvement, identify, and drive savings through category management & sourcing engagements with a focus on Total Cost of Ownership.

Since this role requires a mixture of daily operational purchasing and category management, strategic & analytical acumen, and stakeholder management, you should be comfortable with variety in your day, have strong communication skills and enjoy solving problems. You have an eye for optimization, have a mind set for continuous improvement and are willing to engage with internal & external stakeholders. You will find yourself in a fast-paced environment, trouble shooting, juggling several tasks, challenging suppliers and stakeholders, and driving change to optimise the process. Thus, being a self-motivated, proactive, energetic person with a can-do attitude is a plus.
You should preferably have 2 to 4 years’ experience from purchasing and handling of orders, background from the cleaning chemicals industry is a plus. You can have worked on sourcing projects within procurement and therefore are familiar with tenders and frame agreements. You should be proficient in English, are process oriented and quick to learn systems. Your workplace is dynamic and international.
